Welcome to the first Logbook of JC Dorset

Welcome to the first Logbook of JC Dorset
April 10, 2026 | By JC Dorset
Hello, and welcome.
If you’ve followed my work over the years—from the early days of The Southern Lands to my more recent dives into the steam-filled streets of my Steampunk collections—you’ll know that I’ve always been a bit of a world-builder.
For a long time, I operated behind the scenes of technical journals and computer consultancies. But today, I’m officially launching this space under the name JC Dorset. Why Dorset? Because no matter how many thousands of miles I travel, or how many years I spend here in the beautiful mist of Mount Vernon, Washington, my imagination always seems to find its way back to the historic quays of Poole.
The "Bigger and Better Read"
I’ve been writing for a long time—over twenty books and counting. My philosophy has always been to provide a "bigger and better read." I don’t believe in talking down to readers, whether they are twelve or sixty-six. I believe in books that come with "add-ons": maps you can study, ancient scriptures like the Pika’Al that you can decipher, and forensic details that make a 1908 murder mystery feel as real as today's headlines.
What to Expect Here
This blog isn't going to be a formal press release site. Think of it more as my digital "Odds & Sods" bin. I’ll be sharing:
The Research: Like how I used my background in technology to build the "Gears" in my Steampunk worlds.
The Memories: Bits of 1960s and 70s British culture that often sneak their way into my characters' lives.
The Progress: Updates on my current 20-episode Edwardian paranormal series.
Whatever I can think of!
The Journey Ahead
It took me twenty-five years to get my first world sorted in my head. I’m happy to say the worlds are coming a lot faster now, and I’m thrilled to have a central place to share them all with you.
So, grab a tea (or a coffee, depending on which side of the Atlantic you're on), have a look at the new bookshelves, and stay tuned. The journey is limited only by our imaginations.
